Things To Do This Weekend – LA – 3-18-16

Ah! It’s the weekend. For some people, the weekend began Thursday. For the rest of us, it starts tomorrow night. But that’s ok. What are the things to do this weekend? We have a few Irish themed ideas to lift up your Irish spirits if you weren’t able to partake in the festivities on Thursday. There are also a couple of other great ideas if you just want to be out in the sun.

Speaking of the sun, it looks like the weekend weather is going to be partly cloudy, but reasonably warm. Clearly spring is here, and it’s coming in pretty fast. So just accept the clouds as a present from Ireland, and enjoy the warmth the weekend will bring.

Let’s get this weekend started!

Irish Pubs 1

Friday Night – Shamrock ‘n’ Roll

Hop onboard the Queen Mary for a night of song, fun, and drink to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. This annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration has live entertainment, Irish food, Irish drinks, and Irish cheer. They have two separate stages showcasing bands like Hoist the Colors, California Celts and Craic Haus. The party starts at 6pm, so put on your best green and head down to the docks. You can find out more here.

Things To Do This Weekend - 3-18-16 - Cherry Blossom Festival

Saturday Day – Cherry Blossom Festival

Cherry Blossom Festivals are a cultural tradition brought over from Japan when a lot of Japanese immigrants moved to Southern California. Cherry Blossoms bloom once a year, last for a few weeks at most, and then are gone. This year’s Cherry Blossom Festival is being held this Saturday from 12:00PM – 6:00PM at Balboa Park in West Covina. This event is open to the public and everyone should come. There will be performances from taiko drummers to karate. You can see more information here.

Things To Do This Weekend - 3-18-16 - San Pedro Beer Festival

Saturday Day 2 – San Pedro Beer Festival

If you don’t want to head to West Covina and see the Cherry Blossoms, maybe you want to spend some time on a boat! If so, the San Pedro Craft Beer Festival is just for you. The festival takes place on the SS Lane Victory, so enjoy over 40 different craft beers from local and national breweries while partying on this storied ship. So put on your sea cap and enjoy some frothy subs. If you’re interested in going, we have a deal for it here.

Things To Do This Weekend - 3-18-16 - Night On The Town

Saturday Night – Night on the Town

Since a ton of people are still going to be under the weather after St. Patrick’s Day, why not go out on the town? There are a few pub crawls running for the LA area, for those of us who were required to be responsible. So there is definitely an opportunity to still want to take part in the festivities. Or, even better, why not hit up your closest Irish Pub? We have a list here of some of our favorites in LA.

Sunday – Once, the Musical

In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day and all Irish members of the United States, go see the musical Once, which won the Tony Award for best Musical in 2012. It is the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant who bond over their love for music. Go end this weekend of celebration of Ireland by heading over to the Pantages. You can find out more information here.
